Side B Club - The Listening Room - Session 001
“I picked Lucky Man by The Verve because it’s one of those songs that just stuck with me. There’s something timeless about the way it builds, Ashcroft’s voice, that sweeping guitar, the subtle strings, it’s raw, beautiful, and full of feeling. It’s been a quiet companion through different phases of life. The Verve is easily in my top 3 bands of all time, and this track captures so much of why.”
“This one’s from an album called 'Standing on the Shoulders of Giants,' arguably my favorite album because it’s from Oasis’s experimental phase. They threw out all the old equipment they owned and bought a bunch of interesting pedals and such things. As an electronics nerd and someone who enjoyed audio production, I love thinking about how they got it to sound the way it did.” read more →
“Hideaway is a piece of brilliant song writing, an arrangement that is complex yet one that people can grasp. A song I've heard several times and analysed the beauty of.”
“Someone very close to me has introduced this song to me and I don’t see them anymore, this song reminds me of the good times with that person.”
“it’s the one i could relate with when solo travelling to kasol”
“It's a break up song, but it's so much more. I first listened to it in 2016 and the song had a strange pull that I still experience whenever I listen to it. It's that moment of catching yourself in the mirror and accepting you're not the same person anymore. But you don't know where you are going either. It's that moment of in-between. You are anxious, a little bit sad, but also excited.” read more →
“This song just turned up in a playlist shuffle against the backdrop of a drive with the setting sun by the side. The mood of the song and the setting sun just made it a match made in heaven”
“I thought the songs were based on a theme, so I'll just share what I've been listening on repeat now”
“1. Haider is one of my all time favourite movies. This song from its sound track isSO experimental. It has 3 time signature changes and feels like a trip. It feels equal parts jazz and Indian Ghazal-esque. Love love love. 2. The Beatles are known to not take musical composition too seriously and this songs SCREAMS it. It feels more talking than singing and yet is so musically iconic.” read more →
“Ryuichi Sakamoto died on March 28, having been diagnosed with colon cancer in 2021 and throat cancer in 2014. When his management initially announced the news of his death, the team wrote that the late artist had been engaging with music in his home studio as often as his health would allow: “He lived with music until the very end.” read more →
“This was the song when I had dedicated it to someone on the day I broke up with her & I regretted it from the bottom of my heart as it was not fair on her & I it my decision. 3 years down the line when I spoke to her again I got to know this was the same song she heard the most in the last 3 years. And I never dedicated this song to her directly xD.” read more →
“A merrygo round- I've never been on one, and its on my bucket list. It's a haunting beauty- the melody. The song got me through college heartbreak, at a time when I immersed myself in the artist's album.”
“Heard it on loop during Covid. Still reminds me of the time”
“Atmosphere by joy division is a song u have listened to on repeat. It has haunted me and been my muse. I know what it feels like , it is familiar, yet every time u listen to it, it feels new.”
